To make the six shape Major shape simply place the shape two frets below the note you would like. So if you want an “A” Major simply place the magenta dot on any “A” note on the fretboard and the six shape below the that note. This note will be repeated in the upper right side of this six shape. These notes will determine what Major Pentatonic key you are in.
Major note placement
To make the shape minor simply place the shape one string below that note. So if you want an “A” minor simply place the magenta dot on any “a” on the fretboard. This note will be repeated in the lower middle position of this six shape. These notes will determine what minor Pentatonic key you are in.
minor note placement
The coolest part of learning the Pentatonic shape this way is that the shape never changes, besides interacting with the “B” string. The notes will alway be the same anywhere on the fretboard. You will alway have the root note of your 1 chord in the upper right corner on the Major scale and always in the middle, bottom position for the minor scale.
